Matthew Mani

Director

Matthew is the Group Financial Controller of Axis. He has over 13 years’ experience in treasury, taxation, financial reporting and management controls. He also has financial and management experience in health, real estate and private media broadcasting sectors.

Before joining Axis, Matthew had been Finance Manager for Joy FM and Chief Finance Officer for the Ghana Slum Upgrading Fund; a UN Habitat project in Ghana. He is a Chartered Accountant with the ACCA (UK) and CA (Gh).

Matthew Mani is a product of the University of Ghana Business School with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting Option) and currently studying for an MBA. He is married with two children.

Eric Quartey- General Manager

Eric Quartey is the manager in charge of Axis Pensions Ltd in Rwanda. Until his appointment as General Manager, Eric was the pioneer Branch Manager of Axis Pensions’ regional branch in Kumasi, Ghana.

Prior to Kumasi, Eric Quartey was head of Retail Pensions at the Head Office in Accra. Eric comes to the General Manager position with admirable interpersonal and communication skills that make him a natural salesperson. As the top manager in Axis’ operations in Rwanda, Eric has the key responsibilities of business development, relationship management, creation and development of sales pipelines, compliance monitoring, financial and investment advisory and the entire operations in Rwanda.
Eric holds Master of Science degree in Financial Management from the Amitty University, India and a BSc. in Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana.

Shivon Byamukama Phd

Dr Shivon Byamukama is a member of the governing board of Axis Pensions Ltd. in Rwanda. She is also the Deputy CEO of Babyl Rwanda, responsible for the implementation of the Babyl strategy in Rwanda. Prior to Babyl she was the Company Secretary and Head of Corporate Affairs at Bank of Kigali. She was in charge of the bank’s Legal Affairs and good Corporate Governance practices.

Prior to joining Bank of Kigali, Dr Shivon Byamukama was Company Secretary and Chief Legal Officer for RwandAir, Rwanda’s national carrier, where she was instrumental member of the team that transformed the airline which began operating its own aircraft in 2009, growing its fleet to 7 aircraft and its destinations to 14. Shivon played a central role in the negotiations of all major aircraft transactions for the company including; the acquisition contracts of the aircraft, aircraft financing and insurance arrangements, aircraft maintenance and technical support contracts, corporation agreements with other airlines, and Bi-lateral agreements.

Shivon had also previously worked with the International Criminal Court at The Hague, Glasgow Caledonian University, UK, Rwanda National Bureau of Standards, Rwanda Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Investment Promotion in different capacities.
Dr Shivon Byamukama is co-founder of Falcon Capital Investments (FCI) and serves on the boards of Rwanda Development Board and Victoria Motors- Rwanda.

Shivon has a PhD from Glasgow Caledonian University Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University- Uganda, and a Diploma in Legal Practice at the Law Development Centre, Kampala, Uganda. She is a recipient of the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship Award in 2016.

 

Afrique Ramba

Afrique is Chief Operating Officer of BPR part of Atlas Mara and a member of the governing board of Axis Pensions Ltd. Afrique is an experienced Banker, Investment and Finance Professional with track record of success spanning over ten years in some of Rwanda’s biggest public institutions.

Prior to his current position, he served as the Deputy Director General in charge of Funds Management at Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB), a role that arose out of his stellar performance as the Acting Director General of the Social Security Fund of Rwanda (SSFR) where he was responsible for steering the overall management.

Afrique Ramba had also worked as a Bank Inspector in the National Bank of Rwanda and has served as the Chairman on a number of Boards such as Banque Populaire du Rwanda, CIMERWA, the biggest cement manufacturer in Rwanda; Rwanda Enterprise Investment Company (REIC), a venture capital fund and Building Materials Investments Company, one of the biggest construction material companies in Rwanda and Mount Meru Soyco Ltd, a regional oil manufacturing company. He also served as a member of the Rwanda Stock Exchange Index Committee.

He is a member of the Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA-UK) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from National University of Rwanda.

Afriyie Oware

Afriyie is co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Axis and chairs the Board of Directors of Axis Pensions Ltd. (Rwanda). He has over 14 years’ experience in the Investment Management and Pensions industry. Afriyie has thorough understanding of Investment Management and Administration business; skills acquired from direct field experience. He pioneered the establishment of Axis Pensions Group and the creation of systems, structures and operational strategies that have seen Axis become a leading pension provider.

Prior to co-founding Axis, Afriyie worked at Databank. During his six years at Databank, he established employee benefit schemes for many blue chip organizations. Afriyie led the institutional funds management business at Databank and guided the firm to develop a positioning strategy for the pensions industry. He also steered several IT projects at Databank as technical analyst and guided software engineers to automate manual business processes.

Afriyie is graduate of the University of Ghana Business School with a bachelors’ degree in Business Administration (Banking and Finance option). He is married with three children.

Axis Pensions Ltd (APL) is a limited liability company formed to provide Pension administration and its allied services due to the new pension legislation and ongoing pension reform in Rwanda.
