Afriyie Oware (Group Chief Executive Officer)

Afriyie is co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Axis Pensions. He has over 14 years’ experience in the Investment Management and Pensions industry. Afriyie has a thorough understanding of Investment Management and Administration business; skills acquired from direct field experience. He pioneered the establishment of Axis Pensions and the creation of systems, structures and operational strategies that have seen Axis become a leading pension provider in Ghana.

Prior to co-founding Axis, Afriyie worked at Databank. During his six years at Databank, he established employee benefit schemes for many blue chip organizations. Afriyie led the institutional funds management business at Databank and guided the firm to develop a positioning strategy for the pensions industry. He also steered several IT projects at Databank as technical analyst and guided software engineers to automate manual business processes.

Afriyie is a graduate of the University of Ghana Business School with a bachelors’ degree in Business Administration (Banking and Finance option). He is married with three children.

Ernest Elorm Attimah (Fund Administrator)

Ernest Elorm Attimah is the Fund Administrator of Axis Pension Trust Ltd. and a member of the company’s Investment Committee. He has over 5 years’ experience in Fund Administration and oversees the administration of over 38 pension/provident funds.

He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana. Ernest is a graduate of the University of Ghana Business School with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting Option).He is married with a child.

Joseph Tackie-Yarboi (Head of IT)

Joseph is the head of IT for Axis Group. With over 14 years experience in Software Development, his professional focus has been in System Analysis & Design, Business Intelligence Systems and Web-enabled Applications. Joseph has over nine (9) years experience in delivery of technical strategies and solutions, application development as well as project management and end-user training. Principal Consultant for EDGECUBE Ltd. between 2006 and 2009, Joseph was involved in developing the core inspection software for the Ghana Customs Inspection Company. He was also the Database Architect / Developer in charge of redesigning second generation cash transfer applications for an international money transfer institution. Joseph has been a lead consultant in developing bridging software between core applications of retail banks and the central bank. In 2006 he was a part-time instructor for Advance Information Technology Institute at the Kofi Annan Center for Excellence.

As the lead programmer, in 2002, Joseph developed System-Wide IS Application Tracking Database and Reporting System for Yale - New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT, US - a web-enabled database and reporting application used for tracking all software used in that Hospital. In the same year, he served as Data Indexing Supervisor for SmartEquip, USA.

Joseph Tackie-Yarboi received a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Statistics (emphasis on System Analysis & Design, Programming, Database and Information Systems) from the University of Ghana in 1999.

Louisa Siaw (Chief Legal Officer)

Louisa Siaw is an experienced corporate lawyer with more than 8 years of professional experience. She holds a degree in law LLB (Hons) and a Post Graduate Diploma (PgDip) both from Cardiff University, Wales. She has been called to the Bar of England and Wales and the Ghana Bar.

Her areaso f legal expertise is in Corporate and Commercial Transactions and Agreements, Foreign Direct Investments, structuring Joint Ventures and Public Private Partnership (PPP) transactions, Insurance, Pensions, Banking, Immigration and Company Secretarial.

She worked as a lawyer with Fugar & Company, a leading law firm in Ghana for seven (7) years. Prior to that she worked with Lloyds Tsb Asset Finance Division (UK), Legal & General Retail Investments (UK) and AA Insurance Services (UK) over a cumulative period of six (6) years.

Louisa is passionate about the legal practice and believes in approaching her engagements with critical thinking, discipline and thoroughness with the view to achieve the best legal and commercial outcome. She is also a bibliophile and loves football.

Matthew Mani (Group Chief Finance Officer)

Matthew is the Group Financial Controller of Axis. He has over 13 years’ experience in treasury, taxation, financial reporting and management controls. He also has financial and management experience in health, real estate and private media broadcasting sectors.

Before joining Axis, Matthew had been Finance Manager for Joy FM and Chief Finance Officer for the Ghana Slum Upgrading Fund; a UN Habitat project in Ghana. He is a Chartered Accountant with the ACCA (UK) and CA (Gh).

Matthew Mani is a product of the University of Ghana Business School with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting Option) and currently studying for an MBA. He is married with two children.

Nana Wiafe Boamah (Chief Investment Officer)

Nana Wiafe Boamah is the Chief Investment Officer of Axis Pension Trust, where he works on Strategic Asset Allocation for the Trust’s assets and works with external managers to implement investment policies.
 
Prior to AXIS, Nana spent 3 years as the head of Corporate Finance at Algebra Securities Limited a boutique investment banking firm specializing in sell side capital raising. Nana was also formerly a Senior Market Risk Analyst at Standard Chartered Bank with key responsibilities of interest rate and liquidity risk management across the Bank’s banking book.  

Nana graduated with a BSC degree in Banking and Finance from University of Ghana, an MPHIL degree in Finance from the same university. He became a CFA® charterholder in 2017. Nana enjoys watching basketball and is a devoted runner.

Paa Kofi Ankomah (General Manager, Axis Pension Trust)

 Paa Kofi, until his appointment as General Manager, was Chief Executive of Axis Pensions Malawi Limited, our subsidiary in Malawi.

During his tenure in Malawi, he led the restructuring of the business into a marketable venture, and influenced the shaping of policy for the Malawi Pensions sector.

He has served in various capacities with Axis since joining in 2012 including Head of Corporate Pensions and Relationship Manager in Axis Ghana. During his first four years’ experience with Axis Ghana, he helped build the company’s corporate pension portfolio from scratch to over $150m in 3 years.

Before Axis, Paa Kofi had stints with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and Databank, a leading asset management firm in Ghana. Paa Kofi holds an MSc in Finance from the University of Leicester, UK and a BSc in Actuarial Science from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.

Selorm Dey (Head of Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit)

Selorm is a professional with almost a decade’s experience at a “Big Four” Global Accounting firm and a demonstrated history of providing solutions in Enterprise Risk Assessment, Internal Audit transformation, Business process review and improvement, Financial Statement review and Analysis and External Audit.

Selorm graduated from the University of Ghana Business School with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He also has a Master of Business Administration in Finance (MBA) and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Selorm enjoys reading and sports. He is author of Personal development book – “7 Secrets to Greater Confidence”.
